"The Great Realisation" by poet Tomos Roberts is a simple rhyming tale read as a daddy-daughter bedtime story taking on heavy themes such as fevered capitalism, man-made ecological issues, digital addiction and, of course, the current global blight of Covid-19. Set in an unspecified future, the poem reflects back on pre-pandemic life and imagines a "Great Realisation" triggered by the pestilence and yet, in the end, introduces something possibly even better: a global society in which people are hopefully kinder and more mindful of our environment and of each other, who spend more time outdoors and with their families than on screens or at the office. Due to the pandemic, actual on-location film production is extremely limited therefore this film was created entirely of stock footage.
