Part 1 of "The Sound and the Fury," a novel by American author William Faulkner, presents April 7, 1928 as seen through the eyes for Benjamin "Benjy" Compson, a cognitively-disabled 33-year-old. The storyline employs a number of narrative styles, including the stream-of-consciousness technique. The film depicts Benjy's mental condition by a beautiful variety of his associative images and illogical judgments.
