Things Fall Where They Lie (2018)

Nicole Peyrafitte returns to Bagnères-de-Luchon a once upon a time glamorous spa and her hometown in the French Pyrénées, to film an anti-nostalgic portrait that blends past and present, the personal and the collective. As if to cast a spell on the moroseness of the place, Peyrafitte invites two couples of friends from diverse backgrounds, who share their love for jazz and poetry, their sensitivity and joyous curiosity, to join her on this journey. In cinéma vérité style, the camera follows the footsteps of these four characters as the secrets of the city unfold before them. Rather than saying or showing, the documentary, in a playful and unexpected manner, commits to making the spectator feel the connections between people and places, in and over time.
