Catherine Weldon, a painter, moves from Brooklyn to the Dakotas in 1890 to paint the portrait of the Sioux chief, Sitting Bull. There, she forms a relationship with the Lakota people in their struggle for rights to their lands. During those years, Catherine writes a series of letters to the federal government to influence the conflict. Directed by Susanna White and featuring a stunning performance by Jessica Chastain, this biographical drama is characterized by beautiful cinematography that contrasts with a brutal and real story.
