"Streetlight Anxiety" is a super8 black and white documentary short film about two young friends from Los Angeles and how they perceive art as a professional and an art consumer respectively. The main points of view I present are from a comics artist in his daily routine at home persistently making work in solitude, and from one of his friends, a passionate consumer of underground art and pop culture. These perspectives will highlight the people that keep the art movement alive: the creator and the consumer. We are part of a worldwide community that we have to take care about. Without sensibility, there's a dehumanization that only provokes the loss of identity and, consequently, our origins. I introduce a touch of charm by showing their respective pets standing in for their owner's concerns. The title, Streetlight Anxiety, refers to the introspective stress induced by the city and the system, pressuring citizens to be successful in school and in their careers. Specifically, artists who only wish to make art but simultaneously need to survive, without sacrificing whatever it is they're passionate about. The pets in these artists' homes are passive observers, but are essential partners in those intimate moments. Sometimes things can be dark due to competitiveness and self criticism, but your pets are always there, making you smile. The light of hope and happiness - consequence of the pride of the resulting artworks - is the engine of persistence.
