Enhamed Enhamed lost his sight at the age of eight. A year later he had his first contact with a swimming pool, the only place where he was free to move as he pleased. Growing up a blind teenager, he was shy and had few friends, but the pool was always welcoming, always predictable, and he dedicated more and more hours to it. At 14 he became a professional swimmer, and upon turning 18 years old his career peaked in the 2008 Pekin Olympics with four gold medals, making him one of the best athletes in Spain's sports history. In his final swimming days Enhamed, took the chance of giving talks sharing his story to develop an occupation as a motivational speaker. Fran Utrera, Iron Man finisher, was captivated by Enhamed's overcoming of the many obstacles hat life had set upon him, and when he attended one this talks he didn't miss the opportunity to meet him. Knowing that Enhamed was always on the lookout for a new challenge, Fran suggested they shared the next one: swimming across the Strait of Gibraltar. Enhamed accepted, and training began.
