When Jesuit Anton 'Toni' Seidl takes over as traditionalist curate, permissive Lutheran pastor Rieke Schmidt finds him in doubt to oppose his church fabric's diocese-approved plans to stop subsidizing the joint youth center, rarely attended by the generally richer Catholics, and built a seniors residence on the parish-owned land. Her own patrimony is in pitiful state, despite the free help of homeless janitor she threatens to throw out. Both clerics however join forces unconditionally to see Rieke's best friend's daughter Jessica Keller gets the insurance-denied experimental most uncertain novel leukemia therapy.
