The Turkish struggle (yagli güres) , a descendant of the Greco-Roman struggle, is a national sport in Turkey and in other Central Asian countries. Traditionally the wrestlers, in Turkish pehlivan face each other bare-chested, completely sprinkled with olive oil, wearing only the kisbet, a pair of black leather trousers that reach below the knee. The Turkish struggle stands out from the free fight and other types of struggle for clothing, the rules, the way to decree the winner and the use of oil that makes the grips more difficult requiring a lot of strength and experience.
