Kim Johnston is a young black assistant lawyer, born in the USA but living in Italy with her italian husband and one little daughter. She is really convinced that only hard work can bring her to success and money. But, while waiting the train in the underground station, she observes some typical feature of modern society: two lazy public employees, young people in breach of life regulations, a young, caddish lady, smoking under the "no-smoking" sign, and, at least, a black tramp thinking that it's a government obligation to provide a house and a work to poor people needing care.
