Like Mountain Like Son (2018)

Dorji, a poor mountain guide, and his teenage son Ganan live in Xiaojin, a remote village near Four Sisters Mountain in China. After another hard day of work guiding tourists through the alpine terrain, Dorji encounters his son's teacher. Even though Ganan shows great potential to be accepted into a great university, he has not attended school for the past few days. Disappointed, Dorji returns home. When Ganan arrives, happy to contribute the money he made as a mountain guide, Dorji confronts him and demands that he goes back to school. Ganan resentfully follows the will of his father, but when Dorji returns from work the next day with an injured leg, Ganan must care for him while balancing school and studies. With Dorji injured and no money coming in, Ganan cannot afford to get his father the medicine he urgently needs. When he notices two arriving tourists, he seizes the opportunity and offers his services as a mountain guide. Back home, Dorji awaits Ganan for dinner. Suddenly, breaking news on the radio announces that two tourists and a mountain guide have gone missing after a large landslide. Rescue teams are unable to dispatch due to dangerous conditions. Fearing the worst, Dorji immediately visits Ganan's classmate to ask if his son was at school but discovers that he was absent. With a backpack full of supplies, Dorji sets out into the treacherous mountain by himself to rescue his son - the only family he has left.
