King Lear (2018)

There are subtle references to fornication and adultery, but none of this is condoned. No actual sex or nudity in this film at all.

Infrequent but very strong and bloody violence, most of which occurs near the end of the film (most of which is described in the "spoilers" section below)

Slaughtered animal carcasses are visible

A man cuts his own arm with a knife in order to falsely accuse another man of attacking him. Very bloody, though brief.

King Lear on multiple occasions goes into violent rages and wishes death upon his children. At one moment, he viciously throws a horseshoe at his daughter, just barely missing her.

A man is seen coming out of a tent soaked in blood

A man and woman get into a violent brawl and hit each other.

The ending is a dark and disturbing scene with a great deal of grisly violence

There is a brutal scene of interrogation, torture, and mutilation (described below). This is by far the most violent and gory scene in the film.

There is no actual profanity at all.

None, other than mild alcohol consumption by adults

The entire film is extremely disturbing and intense. Lear's angry and violent outbursts are very realistic and frightening.

The end is very violent and bloody in its depiction.
