Almost every fight can be avoided, especially if you avoid ego and caffeine. There exists a sizable energy between three boys and it escalates into combative energy - with no diffusion in sight, why would it be stopped? When Lucas has his buttons pressed, he has two choices: to walk away or step up. And, it's very obvious since he's slurped down some strong coffee that at this moment he wants to fight his best friend's little brother.
