Bordered (2018)

Ray is an American veteran working as a border patrol officer at a USA-Canada border. One night, on his way home from work, Ray finds two Syrian refugees walking towards Canada on foot. They are Samira, a pregnant woman, and her mother, Fatima. It's very cold, and Fatima collapses of hypothermia. Ray offers to help. Fatima's daughter Samira is reluctant, but agrees to help get her mother indoors. Ray takes them to his home to recover. After they refuse to go to the hospital, Ray reveals that he knows Fatima and Samira are trying to flee the US. He tells them that he has to turn them in to the border office. Samira realizes he's a border patrol officer, and her distrust of him increases. Samira tells Ray more about their past and their struggle. Ray is increasingly reminded of an Iraqi woman he accidentally killed during one of his tours at war. The next morning, they get in Ray's car and drive to the border. On the way there, Ray suddenly changes his mind. Using his connections and privilege, he gets them across the border safely.
