Heart of Glass (1976)

Set in 18th century Bavaria, a village's vitality depends on a secret, the making of "Ruby Glass", until their foreman's death plunges them into despair. The owner's unrelenting obsession with the lost secret becomes the central focus, with Hias, based on the Bavarian prophet Mühlhiasl, offering hope. Herzog's direction captures the eerie beauty of Bavaria, while the cast, hypnotized during filming, delivers detached yet evocative performances.
