Gerry Clemens and Roger Tilton tell the history of Canada's first bush pilots, those who risked their lives to end the isolation of remote and virtually uncharted territory. Pilots North shows how the pioneer navigators challenged the elements to supply and service the inhabitants of the north and open the way for present aerial routes linking Eastern and Western Canada with the North and Far South. Breath-taking photography depicts Peace River, Fort Vermillion, Nahanni, 300-foot-high Virginia Falls, and the chilling frozen wasteland of the far Arctic. Pilots North follows the rivers of the fur traders and heads towards the uncharted regions of the North. Featuring Tiger Moths, Fairchild 24's, Wind Beachcraft, Wacos, Norsemen and other push planes that helped open up the North. The film features a score by Canadian composer Tommy Banks. Sections of Pilots North were filmed at the Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village outside Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The 1929 Ford Model A pickup was built by prop maker Gerry Kuipers.
