Dark Eyes (1987)

Years before World War I, Romano shares his love story with a stranger on a ship. Through flashbacks, we learn about his yearning for Anna, a Russian woman in an unhappy marriage, with whom he has fallen in love. Portrayed by Marcello Mastroianni, the Italian reflects on their brief but intense romance. This film draws inspiration from Chekhov's short stories.
