Intunecare (1986)

A handsome, self-centered man who lives a comfortable, superficial life, without a single deep relationship or a care about other people, is drafted and wounded while fighting in WWI. The wound disfigures half his face and forces him to face himself and how pointless and superficial his life was. With nobody to support him, he drowns in self-pity and self-loathing, and his life spirals into the gutters of society.
