The poet Josef K. takes part in opposition meetings, where people deplore the betrayal of communism. He finds Márta, one of his lovers, dead in the kitchen. She was killed by Kata, another of Joseph's mistresses, in order to falsely accuse him of the murder. Someone shoots Kata. Josef then goes to a friend's house with his youngest lover Juli, where they are attacked by a troop. Josef is killed and Juli flees. Strange figures with umbrellas try to erase Juli's memory of what happened, but she is able to visualize the scene with the help of a police officer. However, the house cannot be found, and according to the computer, Josef K. never existed.
