Stalingrad (1993)

Soldiers are buried in the snow by advancing tanks. Soldiers of exploding tanks are on fire screaming. Soldiers beg for help while freezing to death, ignored by their comrades.

In a particular shocking scene one soldier is directly hit by a tank shell. As the smoke clears, we see him screaming in shock and horror as he has been ripped in two. His torso is sitting upright, while is pelvis and legs are lying behind him (we see the inner view of the pelvis with lots of stinched tissue and gore). He continues screaming for a while, until he passes out, while holding his shredded left arm to his comrades (we see mangled cloth, tissue and bone).

Shows reality. Film without age certification. Which doesn't serve any purpose anymore anyway, and probably didn't do in 1993 when the film was new.

A Russian woman is left tied to a bed, indicating that the Germans have raped her.

The whole movie is subtitled from the original German with language throughout especially shit, ass, bastard, and 4 plus uses of the f word.

Alcohol as a way of escaping from brutality as well as a result of a lack of hope.

A German speaks nonsense, then starts to laugh uncontrolably. He takes out his pistol, sarcastically says "Heil Hitler", aims the barrel down his throat, and fires.
