Mary (1931)

Actor-manager Sir John Menier serves as a juror in the trial of Mary Baring, an actress accused of murdering a colleague. Found at the scene in a daze and with damning evidence against her, Mary’s case appears open-and-shut. Despite his lingering doubts, Sir John succumbs to pressure and votes guilty, leading to Mary’s conviction. Consumed by guilt, he begins his own investigation, enlisting two of Mary’s colleagues.
