After 18 years of happily married life with Helen, eminent Detroit businessman Brentwood Parr "steps out" and is vamped by Peggy Price, a nightclub entertainer introduced to him by Crofts, an older business friend. Although his friend Rawlings disapproves of the relationship, Parr continues to see Peggy during feigned "business trips"; but Helen learns of his affair and gets a Paris divorce. Parr marries Peggy. Helen returns from abroad and embarks on a lively social life. Soon tiring of his young wife's hectic existence, Parr seeks rest and seclusion at the country home of his former wife. After much coaxing by Parr and his son, Henry, Helen decides to start over again, buying off the young entertainer, then making her husband pay her for his folly.
