Beggar's Wedding (1936)

The groom, Umberto, loses the money for the trip the night before the wedding during the bachelor party due to a misfortune when a large (real) bill gets mixed up with the fake ones of a magician and is burnt by mistake. Just as they leave Rome, Umberto confesses the problem to the bride, Laura, and both take refuge in Orvietto, where they meet a group of actors and, by chance, an old flame of Umberto who tries to rekindle their old love again, finding him some work with the theater company as a singer. The bride of course doesn't know of the old love bond between them and when she finds out, throws a fit and demands to be returned to Rome with her father. Luckily, the husband finds great success as "fine dicitore" and with the promise of wealth, even the differences between Laura and Umberto smoothed out.
