Boots of Destiny (1937)

Alice Wilson (Claudia Dell) refuses to listen when Jack Harmon (Ed Cassidy), the foreman of the ranch left her by her murdered father, urges her to sell the ranch. It is believed her father was killed by the Vascos, a Mexican family, which had once owned the property, but had lost it in a law suit, and covert threats by the Vascos make Alice more determined to hold the ranch. She is unaware that the Vascos plan to raid the ranch to recover a treasure buried there. Roving cowboy Ken Crawford ('Ken Maynard') and his pal, Acey-Deucey ('Vince Barnett'), meet Jose Vasco (Martin Garralaga) and he and Acey get drunk and get into a fight. Ken separates them and the grateful Jose offers Ken a handsome pair of dress-boots. Ken declines but Acey takes them. Later, after Jose sobers up, he remembers that in the heel of one of the boots is a map of the location of the treasure buried on the Wilson ranch. Ken gets a job on the Wilson ranch and discovers that Harmon and his men are rustling cattle from the ranch. Alice fires the crooked foreman and makes Ken the foreman. Harmon and his henchmen ride to town to join up with the Vascos in their planned raid. But, first, Harmon has Ken jailed on a frame-up murder charge.
