Make Way for Tomorrow (1937)

Barkley "Bark" and Lucy Cooper lose their home to foreclosure, forcing them to turn to their children for temporary housing. Due to space constraints, they must live separately with different children. The couple's presence soon disrupts their children’s lives, leading to mounting tensions and half-hearted promises. As Barkley's health declines and Lucy discovers her children's true intentions, the couple cherishes one final, bittersweet day together.
