1850, in the middle of Germany. Andreas Halm, a young talented violin player, originated from Friedberg near Homburg in the Hessian region gives violin lessons to a number of students. But throughout each learning session he used to be upset ending up with heavily cursing the bad sound of his third-class violin. He cherishes a dream to play one time a "real violin", a bowed instrument that would allow him thanks to its sound even to convince the famous virtuoso violinist Georg Helmesberger of his own prowness. Three days later the master violin player is about to play the solo violin at a concert in Homburg. Halm sees his chance to fulfill his heart desire by stealing the "magic violin Stradivari" from the Music-Historical Museum in Homburg, right after the Landgrave of Hesse had recently purchased it for the museum.
