The film shows that Romanian peasants were divided between those opposing and those embracing collectivization. The opposing peasants being mostly the wealthy ones had the most to lose from the process of collectivization while the poor landless ones had the most to gain. The heated debates between the pro and con camps would ultimately lead to murder and to state authorities' intervention in order to calm down the peasants. The viewers also have a chance to get a glimpse into traditional Romanian folklore and village life in rural Romania during the 1950s.
