Agent Al Stewart has supplied the Club Chez Bleu with a successful singer Dorothy McCoy, the Manhattan Hillbilly. He strikes out, however, with Wilbert Smith and inept escape artist. Wilbert accidentally swallows the key to padlocks and chains that some audience members have applied. When a mouse crawls up his pant leg, he lets out a wild call and manages to jiggle loose from the chains. Dorothy asks him about his holler. She thinks it is the same that the McCoy clan uses in the Kentucky hill country. Wilbert said that his grandfather was Squeeze Box McCoy. At this, Dorothy declares he could be worth millions. Granny McCoy always said that when a Squeeze Box McCoy returns home, then the location of buried treasure will be revealed. Dorothy, Wilbert and Al head for Kentucky. The McCoys are reticent to accept Wilbert as one of their clan. They want proof as provided by winning the turkey shoot at the county fair versus the rival Winfield clan. Wilbert does with a little help from Matt (Clora) McCoy. Next, the McCoys demand that Wilbert marry one of the cousins to keep the treasure in the family. After a consultation, they declare they have chosen Clora to be his bride. He is more interested in Dorothy. Granny advises him to go visit Aunt Huddy for a love potion. The love potion makes the rounds with Dorothy falling for Wilbert, Wilbert falling for Clora, and Clora falling for Al. When the potion eventually wears off, Dorothy plans to marry Clark Winfield. The treasure map is hidden in grandpa's squeeze box which Wilbert has.
