Sterren stralen overal (1953)

Piet Amstel is a struggling taxi driver in the post-war Netherlands. His car is beyond repair, still operational though, but customers aren't lining up to take his old cab. He doesn't have the money to buy a new one and Amstel fears the next car inspection. The future of his children also worries him. Will they be able to find a house in the crowded Netherlands? The situation is giving him nightmares. Then his wife comes with a solution: emigration to Australia. The more they inform about the possibilities, the more they get the impression that his is the right step to take. There's just one problem though. Daughter Willie has fallen in love with a man, Jim.
