Echigo Tsutsuishi Oyashirazu (1964)

Gonsuke has had to leave town to find employment and is working at a sake brewery far from his hometown. He travels back to his hometown to see and be with his mother when he hears that she has fallen ill. Despite the urgency he is sidetracked when he comes across a married woman called Oshin.
