Young nurse Sissi lives a secluded life, seemingly entirely devoted to her patients at Birkenhof asylum. Her first encounter with ex-soldier and drifter Bodo has a lasting impact. He causes an accident that results in her lying under a truck, unable to breathe. While he provides life-saving first aid, mesmerized Sissi begins to wonder whether he may be the man of her dreams. But when she tracks him down weeks later her affection is rejected, as Bodo is stuck somewhere between a traumatic past and a criminal future.

A man threateningly grabs another man's throat.

A man flees from two pursuers. He knocks over things in his way, climbs on a tank truck and jumps off.

A young man and a woman are about to cross the street when a tank truck comes down the road. The woman pushes the young man off the street (he is not hurt) but she is hit by the truck. She is shown with a little blood on her nose and gurgling sounds come out of her mouth, implying she is bleeding internally.

A man pulls out a fold-out knife and makes an incision into a woman's throat. He inserts a straw in the hole, sucks blood out of it and spits it out, cleaning the woman's lungs. The cut is not graphic, but the woman is shown bleeding from it.

A man hugs a radiator twice in the film, and both times he's pulled away from it. He is later shown with wet towels on his arms, implying he has burned himself.

A male supporting character is the owner of a gun shop. In one scene, he examines a shotgun and then sells it to another man.

A young man falls to the ground, pretending he's having a seizure.

Two men are shown practising martial arts.

A man suddenly grabs a woman's throat and throws her to the ground. Another man calms him down and pulls him away.

A man forcefully hits a woman in the face and she lands on the ground. He tells her voices in the head told him to do it. She ties him to a bed after he asks her to do so.

A man pushes a woman into a puddle of mud on the ground. She starts to cry and throws mud at him. Another man pulls him away.

A man soaks a piece of cloth in anesthetic and forcefully pushes it on two men's faces at gunpoint.

A man shoots the fire alarm button, causing the alarm to go off.

A man points his gun at another man. A third armed man appears, drops his gun and convinces the first man not to shoot.

A man is attacked by another man who points his gun at the man's forehead. A woman convinces the man not to shoot, and he only slaps the man in the face with the barrel of his gun.

A man kicks a TV off a table and starts screaming while he smashes it with a chair. Four people hold him to the ground and another gives him an injection. He is later shown strapped to a bed.

A young man breaks a lamp into small pieces and eats them. He bleeds profusely from his mouth. Three people break into his room and remove the shards from his mouth. He is carried away to the hospital.

A man sits on the edge of a roof and threatens a woman that he'll jump. In the same scene, a man and a woman jump hand in hand from the roof and land into a pond.
