On the eastern side of Naxos, in the small and mountainous village of Apiranthos, the long-standing and arduous tradition of emery mining supports entire households of humble but proud miners. Unable to make ends meet, and suffocating under the pressure of his unconfessed love for a fellow countrywoman, Dimitris, a young emery miner, dreams of leaving his birthplace, to seek a better and safer future away from the dark and dank entrails of the island's rocky mountains. But, do dreams come true in the black soils of a ruthless reality?
