Rich (1983)

On the eve of his graduation from high school, Richard Lawson runs into conflicts with his mother over the direction of his future. He wants to attend college while his mother wants him to accept an office position with her employer's company. Rich's situation is further exacerbated when he is terrorized by some local bullies. When the bullies corner him, he must use his martial arts skills as well as his speed to get away from them. Impressed by his athletic ability, loyalty and his ambition, the bullies befriend Rich. Meanwhile, Rich's mother finally supports his decision to pursue a higher education and abruptly takes off from her domestic job to attend her son's high school graduation.
