La fine di un vile (1918)

The plot turns upon the career of a novelist and journalist-Julian Valarna. Unfortunately the professors beautiful daughter falls under the fascination of the literary scamp, and they are married. The remainder of the story is one of the unhappiness of the lovely young wife, who finds her husband to be a blackmailer, and a promoter of a bogus company, besides being thoroughly worthless morally. She puts a brave face upon her sorrow, for the sake of her father. There is a friendship with a young sailor, Commander Mario Rocco, which might have led to happiness had she been free-but she sends him away. The brightness of the story comes from her devotion to her little son.
