Franz Schubert works for his father as a teacher. But his true passion is writing music like his role model Beethoven. After quitting his job he moves in with his poet and painter friends. He meet Therese Grob which became his singer and his first love. The couple make a living with Schuberts songs. On one point Schubert decides to quit song writing and move to writing symphonies and operas. But the way to a successful composer who can live from his talent is hard..
