L'absolution (1922)

A hungry orphan breaks into a house and, while laying hands on a piece of bread, is surprised by the old landlady. In desperation she throws a botlle at her. The lady, whose head has been hit, collapses and lies motionless. A few minutes later the orphan confesses her crime to a priest. From the description the girl makes, the priest understands that she is referring to his own mother.
