The 2003 version of the annual Bodil awards show saw actress Paprika Steen and film Open Hearts (2002) attracting primary attention. Show-wise, the two-hour televised presentation included an interview-based pre-show, an introductory speech by Kim Skotte, filmed sketches by hosts Pernille Højmark and Søren Østergaard, a trip down memory lane with late actress Bodil Kjer and the presentation of a total of ten statuettes, including three special prizes to screenwriters Mogens Rukov, Kim Fupz Aakeson and Anders Thomas Jensen. Following the televised part, the evening continued with dinner and a movie, the gala premiere of The Green Butchers (2003).
