Warriors (2002)

Both a war movie and a movie about a conflict involving lots of hatred on all sides, Guerreros features intense and realistic violence.

A Spanish soldier is brutally victimized by insurgents while trying to rescue the torture victim.

A simple misunderstanding between foreign soldiers and local insurgents leads to an intense firefight with a great many fatalities.

A female interpreter steps on a landmine and is terribly injured. The Spanish soldier who is sent to look after her is too afraid to rescue her, so he suffocates her to death.

It is implied that insurgents gangrape a captured female Spanish soldier.

A civilian about to discover the Spaniards hiding in his farmstead is stabbed to death in a frenzy.

A mass grave and scattered human remains are seen, ethnic cleansings are implied.

Several instances of torture with a plastic bag (simulation of suffocation) are uneasy to watch.

The climactic gunbattle is uneasy to watch in that regard that it is triggered by a mere misunderstanding.

The sequence where a female interpreter is suffocated to death by her soldier friend is very uneasy to watch. She is in agony and begging for rescue, while he is too afraid to save her under hostile fire.

Halfway through the movie, a female soldier is thrown into the quarters of local paramilitaries. Their intention to violate her is clear. Later on she's seen taking her dresses back on, trembling and completely traumatized.

Conclusion: Not for the faint of heart.
