Les trésors de l'Atlas (1997)

The story takes place in Morocco a few decades only before the modern era. Ould Bah, the oldest son of a rich family, thinks he can afford everything and accordingly spreads terror in the area he lives in. For this reason his father brings himself to disinherit him. Pretending to repent, the young man says he will go to Mecca but his real purpose is to steal the treasure of a Berber tribe in the Atlas Mountains so as to regain the power he has been dispossessed of. When he realizes that the treasure is "only" a book of moral values and that his companion have all been murdered for nothing, Ould Bah sinks into madness.
