Father (1997)

An indifferent father in his 50s, discovers he has cancer and five months to live. He decides to keep it a secret and focus on organizing his life. The family have always felt he was distant and absorbed in his work, but this only grows worse now that he is even more focused; and resentments build. It turns out that preparing for death alone, makes him more bitter and drink to excess. Forgetting his wife's birthday, he arrives late and drunk; when his daughter angrily unloads on him. He just wants to rest peacefully, but now his home life is ruined. He decides there's no other option than to continue preparing for a painful end, and make sure his family are taken care of. Eventually, the family finds out about his illness, reconcile, and help him prepare for death.
