Im Leben und über das Leben hinaus (2005)

In the 16th century, the Anabaptist movement emerged as part of the Reformation. Throughout Europe Anabaptists were persecuted, forced to revoke their faith, imprisoned and executed. The film shows Mennonites who now live in the Swiss Jura, Mennonites as well as Amish of Swiss origin, who live in Indiana (USA). They have in common, among other things, the principles: Living according to the Bible, practicing adult baptism, commitment to a non-violent life, separation of religion and state. The members of the congregations depicted give the outsiders the opportunity to participate directly in their religious, cultural and everyday lives.
