Seonghwangdang (1939)

A couple lives in a remote mountain setting making charcoal to sell. Whenever the man goes to town to sell the charcoal, his wife goes to an altar for the local god and prays for a pair of white shoes. One time, while she is there, she is nearly raped by a wandering trapper. Her husband kills her attacker and is sent to jail, leaving his wife a pair of white shoes
