Ten years after making a radical, life-threatening decision, Cara emerges on the lower east side of Manhattan wearing a cat bell and a set of dog tags as daily reminders and punishment for that decision. Fate, faith and love are tested when she meets Peter, a NYC bike messenger with a large tumor on his hand that he keeps wrapped in an ace bandage to hide its deformity and reduce his pain. As their relationship develops, Peter encourages Cara to paint, becoming her muse. In doing so, she reveals the truth on canvas using unpredictable stokes in an attempt to alter her future and to amend a past that cannot be undone.
