Dzieci tundry (1994)

During the existence of the Soviet Union, the life of the Nomads was orderly. At least in appearance: they had a place to eat, they had a job. At the same time, however, attempts to deprive them of their own identity resulted in a sharp increase in hostility towards Russians. Later, after the fall of communism, the authorities in Moscow completely lost interest in the local population. The nomads became poorer and many of them lost faith in a better tomorrow. Many tried to drown their regrets in vodka. It happened that even small children became addicted to alcohol. But the future is not always bleak. One of the people who will never stop fighting for a bit of happiness is Anatoly Griegorievich Popov, a teacher who has been living in the Siberian village of Ust Avam for five years. Anatlolij teaches children the language of poetry while helping them realize their dreams of a better life.
