Milesian Film Production's cameras were the only ones, apart from ERT Greek Television, to be allowed into the Athens Olympic Arena for the 1982 European Games. Right from the first starting pistol, the film stays close to Daley Thompson, and hears his innermost thoughts, and also those of his arch-rival Jurgen Hingsen, as they both analyse the tensions, and disappointments in their struggle to win. However it is only during the tenth and final event of the 1,500 meter race that Daley manages to take back the Gold medal he lost previously to Hingsen. Later, with Dr Otto Szymiczek and Richard Slaney, a world champion discuss thrower, Daley examines in detail the Decathlon's ten disciplines which derive from the original five disciplines of the ancient Greek Pentathlon by visiting the original Olympic Stadium in Southern Greece.
