Apparence féminine (1980)

Through the unique story of a trans woman, this documentary shows what the experience of trans-identity could have been like in the 1970s. Dominique tells, with finesse and assurance, her journey, her body, her tastes but also sexism and more generally her social integration. A charismatic and charming personality, she tells us without voyeurism how she fits into her identity, what she does with it (at work for example) and what embarrasses her. She skillfully avoids the crude clichés that could lock her in a strange or hyper-sexualized role.
