I'm always fascinated by the early efforts of major film directors particularly with the short films they first started out in. You can see on display early glimpses of their genius, their themes, and their aesthetic preoccupations. I've decided to make a list of these films, with the following parameters: [1] it should just be one short film per director; [2] the film should be from their early years as director, if not their debut efforts, and before they made any features; and [3] it should, as much as possible, be already indicative of the directorial stamp they would soon…
