Montaretto is different from all the other villages of the Italian Riviera. A mixture of hospitality, helpfulness and home town love, the Motarettinians have created a style of living which they have been described as 'communistic' since the beginning of the 20th century. The Inhabitants of this small mountain community withstood pirate attacks in the 16th century. They successfully opposed fascist dictatorship and during the 2nd world war they played an active role in the resistance. Today they defend their ideals against the government of Berlusconi. 'Montaretto for example', weaves conversation, animation, music, interviews and archived material into a texture which reflects the anarchistic and poetic nature of the village and its inhabitants.
