Forbidden House (2011)

A forty-something middle-class couple arrive in the countryside in an old family house to resell it. They settle there for a while in order to refresh it and get the best price. But very quickly the woman, Claire, appears disturbed, affirming that a foreign presence in the house seeks to terrify her. Benoît ignores his fears. He seems to know the psychological fragility of his wife, whom he protects like a child. Until the day when Benoît discovers a hole in the garden, just on the edge of the woods. A hole that leads to the cellar. Up to them, down to their hidden fears. He doesn't tell Claire about it, so as not to frighten her further. Each one finds himself alone in front of his doubts, his questions. Who is trying to break into the house? Stranger or someone strangely familiar? Does the evil come from outside where has it arrived with them?
