Throughout history, the bodily ravages of war occurred in plain sight while the equally devastating ravages of a soldier's psyche remained locked in darkness. It wasn't until 1970 (Vietnam) that a young Psych Officer vowed to unlock the dark internal chambers of a soldier's embattled soul. Making it his sole purpose to give voice to the debilitating torment inhabiting voiceless victims of what will eventually become known as PTSD, Captain Shad Meshad (the youngest officer in the US military at that time) put himself in harm's way - on and off the battlefield - to better understand and address each soldier's private, internal suffering.
