The story of Gusti Ayu's, a troubled young Balinese woman with Tourette's syndrome, struggle to find a place in a society which does not recognize or understand her illness. Stigmatized by her neighbors and conflicted by local beliefs and interpretations versus Western-influenced medical advice, Gusti heartwarmingly tries to make sense of her illness and not let it define her. Following her life for 8 years, anthropologist Robert Lemelson cannot help but become personally involved in Gusti's quest for treatment and understanding.
